지난 4월 10일, 대련한국국제학교의 체육관은 배드민턴 대회의 열기로 가득 찼습니다. 이 대회는 대련한국국제학교의 10학년 한국 학생들과 다양한 학생들로 구성된 메이플 리프 학교의 7, 8학년 학생들 간의 대결이었습니다. 대회는 오전 9시 30분에 시작되었으며, 정오에 점심 휴식 시간을 가진 후 결승전으로 이어졌습니다.

이번 대회에는 총 32명의 학생이 참가했으며, 각 학교에서 16명씩 참가했습니다. 참가자들은 4명씩 8개의 그룹으로 나뉘었으며, 각 그룹에서 1위로 선발된 선수만이 본선에 진출하여 8강전을 치를 수 있었습니다.

최종 우승자는 대련한국국제학교의 윤서우 학생이었고, 메이플 리프 학교의 제이슨 학생이 2위를 차지했으며, 대련한국국제학교의 주현우 학생이 3위를 차지했습니다. 저 또한 이번 대회에 참가했으며, 준결승에서 제이슨에게 패배했습니다.

이번 대회는 불가피하게 나이와 성별을 고려하지 않고 매치업을 구성해 참가자들의 실력 차이가 두드러졌습니다. 그러나 이것이 두 학교 학생들 간의 격려와 존중의 분위기를 해치지는 않았습니다. 점심 시간 동안 학생들은 한 테이블에 모여 식사를 나누며 대화를 나누는 등 서로 교류하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

대회는 시상식으로 마무리되었으며, 각 그룹의 상위 3위에게 메달이 수여되었고, 결승 진출자들에게는 트로피가 수여되었습니다. 이번 행사는 스포츠 능력뿐만 아니라 학생들 간의 상호 존중과 우정을 증진시키는 데 큰 역할을 했습니다. 대회를 통해 참가자들은 서로의 다름을 이해하고 존중하는 마음을 배울 수 있었습니다.

이 대회는 앞으로도 두 학교 간의 관계를 더욱 돈독히 하고, 서로의 문화를 이해하는 기회를 제공할 것입니다. 앞으로도 더 많은 학생들이 참여하여 스포츠를 통해 교류와 우정을 나누기를 기대합니다.

On April 10th, the gymnasium of Dalian Korean International School was filled with excitement as it hosted a badminton competition between its own 10th graders and the 7th and 8th graders from Maple Leaf School, which has a diverse student body. The competition started at 9:30 AM and after a lunch break at noon, moved into the finals.

In total, 32 students participated, 16 from each school. They were divided into 8 groups of 4 players, with only the top player from each group advancing to the knockout stages, leading to the quarterfinals. The final victor was Yoon Seowoo from Dalian Korean School, followed by Jason from Maple Leaf School securing the second place, and Joo Hyun-woo from Dalian Korean School taking third place. I also participated in the competition, facing defeat against Jason in the semifinals. The competition was distinctive as it did not consider age or gender in the matchups, leading to noticeable differences in the skill levels of the participants. However, this did not hinder the spirit of encouragement and respect shared among players from both schools. During the mid-day lunch, students from both schools mingled, sharing meals and conversations at the same table.

An awards ceremony marked the end of the competition, where medals were awarded to the top three in each group, and trophies were presented to the finalists. The event not only showed sporting prowess but also promoted mutual respect and friendship among the students.
